Introduction to Coventry
Coventry is a large and important city in the West Midlands region of England. Coventry is both an industrial centre and a cathedral city,
combining industry with culture in an interesting combination. Locally, the city is known as The Three Spired Jewel. You get the best of both worlds in Coventry.
In the Cathedral Quarter, modern architecture and ancient ruins of the two Cathedrals dominate cobbled streets of buzzing bars and restaurants. In the modern City-centre, history is still evident in the old city walls, the timber-framed buildings and the reconstructed medieval Spon Street.
Coventry was the first ever city to "twin" with another city (Saint-Etienne, France) and hence began the now common worldwide practice of twinning.
It started after World War II when Coventry twinned with Dresden as an act of peace and reconciliation, both cities having been heavily bombed during the war.
Each twin city country is represented in a specific ward of the city and in each ward has a peace garden dedicated to that twin city.
Coventry is now twinned with 26 places across the world including 3 places in the USA with the name Coventry.

The passenger terminal is located at Coventry Airport South on Siskin Parkway West, Middlemarch Industrial Estate, just off the A45 at Toll Bar End Roundabout.

The city of Coventry is on the London to Manchester mainline but there is no train station at Coventry airport.

The Coventry Airport Express links the Airport with Coventry Railway Station, Coventry City Centre (Broadgate) and Pool Meadow Coach Station.
Service 737 departs Coventry Airport every hour on the half hour 0630 - 2230 hours and every hour on the hour from Pool Meadow 0600 - 2300 hours.
The service departs stand D (next to National Express) from Pool Meadow and from right outside Coventry Railway Station.
